The Curtis Fund Announces New Executive Director Lauren Philie

The Curtis Fund, a supporting organization of the Vermont Community Foundation that provides educational scholarships, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lauren Philie as executive director. “I have seen firsthand how postsecondary education can change lives,” said Philie. “I am excited to continue that work with The Curtis Fund and use my skills to raise funds for scholarships for low-income Vermonters.”

Philie comes to The Curtis Fund from Vermont State University, where she served as the assistant vice president of institutional advancement and alumni relations. Philie brings over thirty years of fundraising experience to The Curtis Fund, twelve of those in higher education, as well as leadership skills in community engagement.

“We are fortunate to have Philie leading our fundraising efforts at The Curtis Fund,” said Amy Mellencamp, president of the board of directors. “Lauren’s strong background in nonprofit management will take our scholarship programs to the next level and help Vermonters make a difference in their communities.”

For the academic year ending in June, The Curtis Fund awarded 881 scholarships to Vermonters pursuing degrees or certificates. The Curtis Fund is committed to ensuring that every Vermonter, regardless of income, can earn a postsecondary degree or certificate because in a small state, we can’t afford to leave any talent behind.
